Although i’m still trying to figure out what the heck I’m going to be writing on this blog, I know one thing for sure: I do NOT want to turn this into a music blog. I have a tendency to ramble on about music to anyone who will listen, but not in a well thought out journalistic manner. It usually just consists of “they suck. they just suck”.
So as I write my second music related post of the day, recognize that there is more going on here. The first Friends in Bellwoods compilation was started by 2 members of Ohbijou, and was mainly recorded in the house that they shared. Add some more friends and 36 tracks later, you have a double disk benefit album that raised over 10 grand for the Daily Food Bank.
The second edition is being released August 25 by Out of this Spark and its launch will be accompanied by 3 shows. The first was this past Wednesday, there's one tonight and the grand finale will be all day saturday at the Tranzac. Admission is $10 or $8 with a non perishable donation. You can get more info here about the track listing and the shows. And all proceeds from album sales and the shows will go to the Daily Food Bank. Oh, and the 40 songs contributed on the new album consists of pretty much every band coming out of Toronto and its surrounding area. From final fantasy, basia balat, sebastian grainger, great lake swimmers, forest city lovers, the acorn, gentleman reg, the bruce peninsula, the rural alberta advantage, d’urbervilles and the excellent timber timbre.
